Oracle releases Java Netbeans IDE 7.1

ENTERPRISE VENDOR Oracle has released its Java Netbeans IDE 7.1, claiming to usher in an era of smooth coding and faster booting.

Oracle said that the release demonstrated its commitment to the Java community and explained that it is available for Oracle Solaris, Oracle Linux and other Linux distributions, as well as Mac and Windows.

Developers can use it to create, test and debug web, enterprise, desktop and mobile applications for Java, including the newly released JavaFX 2.0 and JDK7, as well as PHP and C/C++, through the use of smart tools.

"The latest NetBeans IDE release provides the Java developer community with many new features to help them create leading-edge Web, mobile and enterprise applications," said Ted Farrell, chief architect and SVP of tools and middleware at Oracle.

"As the first IDE to support JavaFX 2.0, Netbeans IDE 7.1 not only gives developers rich support for developing JavaFX 2.0 applications, but also ensures they have access to all of the advances delivered in the latest Java platform releases."

Templates and samples are included to help people get to work quickly, including support for the new JavaFX 2.0, although you may have to download the SDK for this and add it to the IDE manually. Support has been added for Oracle Weblogic Server 12c, and the IDE also includes improved GUI builder and debugging tools.

Other highlights in this release include bulk refactoring tools that can correct mistakes made across an entire project or just update its code, a visual debugger, support for CSS3 in the Netbeans CSS editor, support for Glassfish Server, and improved PHP debugging. µ
