THE ONGOING LAWSUIT between Google and Oracle over the Android operating system could go to trial this March.
The case, which has been delayed already, will go in front of the beak on or around 19 March, at which time both firms will make the arguments about who owns what in the mobile operating system.
Its been a drawn out affair, three years, and the decision is one that the judge has already delayed from October. Now US District Court Judge William Alsup in San Francisco is ready to oversee it. Well, at least he will be in a couple of months.
Patents busybody Florian Muller said that the date is a compromise that will meet Oracle's requests to get the case to trial as quickly as possible.
"The case was originally scheduled to go to trial on October 31 (Halloween), 2011, but it was postponed into this year. Oracle recently urged the court to resolve this matter as soon as possible and would have liked the trial to start, ideally from Oracle's perspective, this month," he wrote in blog post.
"Google indicated that a trial date in the summer was more realistic. By picking a March date, the decision is a little closer to Oracle's preference." µ
