FRUIT THEMED Apple's voice bot Siri has come under fire after it told a young boy in Tesco, "Shut the f*** up, you ugly t***."
According to the Sun, the 12 year old boy had been trying out the Iphone 4S when he received the abuse from cheeky Siri. It came back with the insult after the boy asked, "How many people are there in the world?"
The boy's mother told the newspaper, "The phone was a demo version and was low enough on the shelf for Charlie to have a go with it. He asked it a simple question and we couldn't believe the filth it came out with.
"I thought I must be hearing things. So we asked again and the same four-letter stuff blared out. I asked for the manager and after staff heard it they agreed to unplug it."
Staff at the Tesco supermarket in Coventry claimed that someone had tampered with the phone's set-up instructions by setting the rude phrase as the user's name. This meant that when it addressed the user by name, the phrase of course came out before the answer to the question.
Tesco said it had launched an investigation into the matter. µ

Was it actually SIRI or was it just a recording of some clot's own voice?
Its not about these words being valid. Its more about Siri not figuring out a prank! If it can understand "Do I need an umbrella today?" or "Tell my wife I will be late!", it should have enough capability to understand that the Sentence_That_Should_Not_Be_Repeated was an abuse and not a real name.
Newsflash: phone calls woman a name, when pranksters make crank call!!!
What a misleading article.
It's like they're trying to make it sound like Siri did it, for the sake of views.
Considering it quite clearly said the name was set to that sentence, what is the big deal here? It's just because of some moron who thought it would be funny.
If anyone had continued listening, (from what I remember of the app) Siri would have continued the sentence after saying the name. So everyone should have instantly figured out what the problem was caused by.
And in regards to the sentence itself, it's not that bad. It could have been MUCH worse.
Honestly, I don't even know why this made it to the internet.
Where is the problem? Are Fuck and Turd and Shithead not perfectly valid words? They are in use very much, so I guess they should be allowed. My spell checker has no problems with them.
Not the words hurt, but your association with them when taken personally. And, idiotic shitheads can be found anywhere.
Can we now please move the fuck on?
Siri was hijacked by someone from Samsung.
