FRUIT THEMED Apple is planning a media event in New York at the end of January that could focus on its Ibook service, according to reports.
According to All Things D, the event is important but not large scale and is not about the Ipad 3. Apparently, Apple SVP of Internet software and services Eddy Cue is involved, who is in charge of Apple media units including the Itunes Store, App Store, Ibookstore, and Iad and Icloud services.
The location is the US stronghold of publishing media empires and advertising businesses, while Apple's hardware launches have been in US west coast locations for the last five years.
This indicates that the announcement could likely centre around either Apple's Ibooks or the Iad advertising service, which is said to be struggling and in need of a fresh approach.
Cue appeared at an event held by a daily newspaper for the Ipad, News Corp's The Daily, one year ago.
Apple has been searching for a new head of its mobile advertising unit since Andy Miller left last summer, but an appointment has not been made yet. µ
