Iphone 4S leads Christmas sales, Nokia Lumia lags

UK mobile operator data swings in Apple’s favour

FRUIT THEMED Apple's Iphone is leading UK Christmas sales, while Nokia's Lumia failed to even make the top 10.

The Financial Times, which saw the data from research firm Gfk, reported that five versions of the Iphone made the top 15 best selling phones through UK mobile networks in the four weeks to 9 December.

The firm's Iphone 4S was the best selling phone in the four weeks, accounting for almost a quarter of all sales. Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy S II was the second top selling handset in the week to 9 December.

However, sales of Nokia's first Microsoft Windows phone, the Lumia, were disappointing and the phone failed to break into the top 10 handsets during its first weeks on sale last month and this month. This is despite the fact that the Finnish phone maker is rumoured to have spent £20m on advertising.

RIM's Blackberry phones took three of the top 10 spots with different Curve models in the first week of December. However, the Blackberry Bold 9900 did not appear among the Top 10. µ
