Adobe Flash Player 11.1 brings Ice Cream Sandwich support

Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners delight

SOFTWARE OUTFIT Adobe has released Flash Player version 11.1, which supports Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).

This release will come as good news to owners of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which has languished without Flash support since launch. The firm's main reason for the new version is to support devices running ICS.

Adobe said, "This release includes no major features but enhancements and bug fixes related to stability, performance, and device compatibility."

The 4.5MB update is available for free from the Android Market and now supports Android 2.2 Froyo up to Android 4.0 ICS. However, the release doesn't fix everything and Adobe admits that the following issues still need to be sorted out.

Seeking while video is paused will not update the frame on ICS, Stagevideo using On2 and Sorenson does not work on ICS, PHDS content plays with audio pops, operating system does not prioritise an incoming call and the enter key does not work on the multi-line text input field.

Flash Player 11.1 will be the last version of the software for mobile web browsers after Adobe announced last month that it is putting it to bed.

Flash Player 11.1 for the Windows and Linux PC operating systems is also available for download at Adobe's web site. µ

Flash Mobile achieved what it set out to do

Flash is still part of the web and just because Apple refuses to give me the full experience doesn't mean Android should be just as SUB PAR like the iOS experience is.
Flash already achieved everything it set out to do on the mobile platform.

Im really glad that Flash disproved everything Steve Jobs said when the real truth is that it served to undermine Steve Job's app store.

Is Flash Worth Of A Place On A Premium Product?

Hi Chris, Flash limps on towards the software graveyard. Is this rather too buggy piece of code worthy of a place on premium products like Galaxy Nexus I wonder? If Steve Jobs were still around...
