ONLINE SEARCH GIANT Google has released its zeitgeist list of top internet searches for 2011 with some interesting and humorous results.
Apple dominated the top 10 fastest rising searches of the year in terms of technology with the Iphone 5 at number two, even though we ended up with the Iphone 4S instead, and the Ipad 2 at number five. However, both were beaten by the UK royal wedding. It appears that users don't quite understand a web browser's address bar, with Facebook topping the UK's search of year followed by Youtube and Hotmail.
Strangely Google as a search term came in at number five on the UK's top searches. We think a lot of users have been keen to try to break the internet. Facebook, Youtube and the Iphone 5 also did well in the top news searches, along with BBC News and Cheryl Cole.
Searches starting with 'How to' and 'What is' revealed some fascinating things that people want to know. Our favourites include how to snog, how to geek, what is scampi and what are piles.
Ranking at number seven on the fastest rising people of the year is Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple who passed away earlier this year. Other people topping the list include Adele and Ed Sheeran.
This year's Google zeitgeist list gave us a good chuckle this morning so we look forward to what the next one will bring. µ
"At least make celebrities of vacuous singers or actors like the rest of us do...not a family of immoral, neurotic, substance-abusing nitwits!"
the US celebrities are also immoral, neurotic, substance-abusing nitwits, so what is the difference?
in my ol' country, Hungary they make celebs out of porn stars as well
Hungary is famous for those.
Royal wedding?!!!
What century is it?
I urge you UK'ers...rise up. Take back what was not earned. At least make celebrities of vacuous singers or actors like the rest of us do...not a family of immoral, neurotic, substance-abusing nitwits!
