PREMIUM CLASS flyers with American Airlines (AA) will be treated to Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets for in-flight entertainment.
The high-end tablet will replace the existing devices on many internal and international flights. Initially each tablet will be pre-loaded with more than 70 films along with various television programmes and music.

"We continue to move forward with our efforts to modernize the travel experience by using the innovative Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to provide in-flight entertainment onboard," said Rob Friedman, VP of marketing at American Airlines. "Today's news is the latest in a series of investments we've made in our focus on product and service enhancements for our premium customers, and we know they will be delighted with the contemporary entertainment experience of the tablet."
Regardless of whether these well heeled travellers don't have a tablet of their own, then the in-flight Galaxy Tab will have a customised user interface designed for AA. Next year additional functionality will be added including WiFi, games and e-reader publications.
Our very own British Airways selected the Apple Ipad 2 for its business class flyers, spending in excess of £32,000 on the shiny gadgets. Tablets seem to be making inroads in all areas of life including bin lorries. We'd hate to hazard a guess at where is next and we're debating whether Apple will try to ban its rival Samsung's tablets from leaving the ground. µ

How about a mount in the head rest in front.
So how are you supposed to watch a film on a tablet while munching through an in flight meal? Where do you prop it up?
Afterall, you really need the distraction otherwise you may notice the taste...
