Apple store employees make $278 per hour
PEOPLE WORKING in Apple stores make the fruit themed firm an impressive $278 per hour, according to estimated figures.
A study by Horace Dediu from Asymco looked at retail segment information published by Apple and worked out what its staff rings up for it every year, every quarter and every hour.
It looks like the smiling polo shirted ones are making good money, for the Cupertino company anyway, and bring in just under $300 an hour, which is a number that the corner boys in the TV show The Wire would be proud to claim.
Overall, Apple stores generate over $100,000 per employee per quarter, according to the study figures, and in 2010 total revenue was $481,000 per employee. By comparison, a retailer like JC Penney generates about $124,000 of revenue per year per employee, the study added.
These figures are actually quite mind-boggling then, and Dediu said that the average revenue per visit is around $45 and there are "well over" 250 million Apple store visitors a year. µ

I don't think you can accredit the profits to the guys working in the store, people that come there already want to buy an apple product, so the employee plays no big role in that in most cases, they only sell apple stuff after all.

Back when I was interested in such stuff, I was told the target revenue per employee for a well run company is $1 million per year.
The Apple figures are per store, not overall, so actually quite low.
My own revenue per employee (I'm self employed) is $250/hr or $500K per annum.
Luckily my expenses per employee are very low.
I need to ramp up productivity a bit to start to compete with the big boys.
Maybe I should work at the apple store, that's amazing money!!!!

You can't compare the Apple employee sales average to JC Penny employee's. Apple's items are much higher priced than JC Penny's. Of course that will bring the average down!
