Wikileaks reveals mass surveillance of mobile devices

Releases the ‘Spy Files’
Fri Dec 02 2011, 10:15

WIKILEAKS FOUNDER Julian Assange has warned, "You're all screwed," when it comes to smartphone and gadget monitoring and surveillance.

Users of the Iphone, Blackberry and Gmail are among those who are supposedly 'screwed' because more than 150 organisations can monitor data on mobile devices. Assange made the statement at a press conference while unveiling the Wikileaks 'Spy Files' project.

Wikileaks said, "Mass interception of entire populations is not only a reality, it is a secret new industry spanning 25 countries."

"It sounds like something out of Hollywood, but as of today, mass interception systems, built by Western intelligence contractors, including for 'political opponents' are a reality."

Assange said, "Who here has an iPhone? Who here has a BlackBerry? Who here uses Gmail? Well, you're all screwed."

"The reality is, intelligence contractors are selling right now to countries across the world mass surveillance systems for all those products."

The organisations apparently have the ability to track devices, intercept messages and listen to phone calls, according to The Press Association.

It might sound like a complete invasion of privacy but the goings on are legal according to Assange and are leading to a "totalitarian surveillance state".

He said the US, UK, Australia, South Africa and Canada are all developing "spying systems", and the data is collected and sold on to "dictators and democracies alike".

The publication of the 'Spy Files' consisting of 287 documents in collaboration with the web site spyfiles.org is a "mass attack on this mass surveillance industry," added Assange. µ

And they said I was crazy

I complained to the police about these things a little less than a year ago then went and told a hospital and they locked me in a mental ward over it. Some people just understand the tech we have today and it's flaws.

especialy not special

The problem is that the governments also has a view that we are not special, and that if in any way we seem to become bothersome we can be moved against, since we are disposable.

If you read some around you will see people who thought they were not special found GPS trackers attached to their car, and them being under surveillance, and many people in quantanamo or UK terrorist lockup aren't special either btw, taxi drivers, old people, kids, illiterate people with no plans or links to terrorism, people whom the entire national security apparatus failed to find ANY evidence against, and yet they can sit there for decades, not being 'special' no, but erased nonetheless.

And then there's the people who do act, like assange, those need protection too, and support from those who are not 'special', and the chance to speak out and keep things sane.

Assange looking for attention

Assange is just looking for some attention as he gets ready to ship off to a Swedish prison. He is a real nutcake for sure.

@"klomgot": You are a fool.

Of course every gov't spies on its citizens / subjects as much as it can. That's what gov'ts LOVE to do, to control the populace.

And it's no better if done by mere private corporations, it's still against common law. -- Don't anyone fall for "statute law" crap, that's corporatized rules, not the natural rights of humans.

Every person IS important, a sovereign being created by whatever, but most certainly no one's slave.

You're a slave, "klomgot", merely repeating what your masters have told you, no more than a dog trained to attack liberty.

YOU ARE NOT IMPORTANT!

1.) You are wrong.
2.) You are not special. No one cares you look at porn.
3.) If it was anyone it would be corporations who are in the wrong, taking advantage of the horrible state of the political system to get MARKETING DATA, not personal data.
4.) Once again, you are not special...you will die a nobody, get used to it and do something more productive with your life.
5.) How the hell do you think with the state of politics WORLDWIDE, that anyone would have time to make a secret organization to spy on you?

I know you're out there...

I know you're out there...I can feel you now. I know that
you're afraid. You're afraid of us, you're afraid of
change...I don't know the future...I didn't come here to
tell you how this is going to end, I came here to tell you
how this is going to begin. Now, I'm going to hang up
this phone, and I'm going to show these people what you
don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world
without you...a world without rules and controls, without
borders or boundaries. A world...where anything is
possible.
here we go from there...is a choice I leave to you...

OK, Good, now get this

OK so they can intercept all our messages. Intercept this then. There are millions of us who know that the old world order is failing. Spy on this message and know that your days are numbered, your corporations and their governments are going down and going down soon. We are the 99%, spy on us all you want, the more you read the more you will know how the world is actually turning which is a really good thing because you most certainly do not know the reality at present.

I don‘t know...

... what is more annoying, the fact this might be legal if a relevant term of use exists in the piles of paper you sign to get a phone, or that Stallman was right from day one. If the OpenMoko GTA04 reaches production, it will be the only phone you can be sure it doesnt have any nasty spying software.

Anyway, expose the bastards. Make a list of carriers that spy on their users.
