Never get lost again
Wed Nov 30 2011, 10:28

INTERNET SEARCH GIANT Google has announced that the latest version of its Google Maps app can help you navigate around indoors.

Version 6.0 of Google Maps for Android devices is now available and includes indoor mapping and tracking. The familiar and popular software can help users navigate around in buildings such as airports, shopping malls and stores.

Google said, "Google Maps for Android enables you to figure out where you are and see where you might want to go when you're indoors."

Detailed maps will appear on the screen when you are inside a building that has data available for it. The usual blue dot indicates the user's position within a few meters and the map will automatically change as the user changes floors within the building.

Initially the service is available only in certain buildings in the US and Japan, including a handful of airports and various stores like the Mall of America, Ikea and Home Depot.

Google said, "This is just the start - we'll continually add new indoor maps to public buildings across the world." µ

Check the permissions of the app. They are very intrusive and you can't remove the app. Google is the Borg.
