Best Buy UK starts closing down sale
ELECTRONICS RETAILER Best Buy has started the closing down process that will end with it leaving the UK.
The firm announced earlier this month that it would vacate the UK and now in an open letter to its customers and partners it has revealed that the sale starts today and will end when the firm shuts down in the UK on 15 January 2012.
Best Buy was not in the UK for a particularly long time and apparently has suffered while it was here. We went to its opening in Lakeside, Essex and found it to be nice, but apparently not many other people visited it after us.
"We've loved bringing our passion for the latest and greatest technology to Britain over the past [two] years, and have always had the utmost appreciation, respect, and commitment to the entire UK marketplace, our customers and stakeholders," says the letter, which is signed by Steve Jensen, managing director for Best Buy UK.
"However, as you may know, based upon the outcome of our employee consultation, we intend to cease retail trading at our Best Buy UK branded stores & website by the 15th January 2012. We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you."
The firm will close its stores then, but said that it will continue to offer its customers some support after that date. Anyone with store credit is advised to spend it as soon as possible, but people with service agreements should expect to see those out, it added.
New service plans will not be offered. µ

Excellent! The are plenty of good honest shops in the UK and the rest of the EU.
Best Crooks is starting to go the way that Circuit City did... down, down, and out. The Goon Squad, er, geak squad, no... it is the Goon Squad are told that they can not help customers, that they must upsell all of the customers, and that they can only "fix" easy stuff. I have a former goon squad tech that works for me and he tells me that he is happy to make a little less money and not get yelled at daily and he is so happy to be able to use his skills to the fullest. The Best Buys of the world are what ruined our economy so it is nice that they are starting to fail and go away. Hopefully the US will lose Best Crooks soon.
There is a good reason why they are known as Bad Buy.
