CHIPMAKER Intel has released an updated version of its Embedded Software Development Tool Suite with Atom processor support.

Version 2.3 of the software is the latest push by Intel in the embedded space and focuses on its Atom chip. It brings updated tools such as a compiler, performance libraries as well analysis and debugging tools.

Intel said, "The new version allows embedded software developers to quickly assess, stabilize, debug and optimize system and application code for embedded devices in order to maximize performance and power savings."

The release adds support for device based on the open source Yocto Project and integration with the Yocto Application Development Toolkit 1.1. The project is backed by the Linux Foundation and allows developers to create a customised system based on Linux for embedded products irrespective of the hardware involved.

Other improvements include Integrated Performance Primitives for hand tuned optimisations and a new JPEG-XR codec and the Vtune Amplifier XE tool for advanced performance profiling. µ
