SOME HIGHLIGHTS have appeared from SC11, the "2011 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis", or the 2011 Supercomputing Conference as most people call it.

The INQUIRER's sister IT news web site V3.co.uk had a reporter on hand at SC11, and here are a few links to the stories that we found interesting there.

The always entertaining Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang delivered a keynote address in which he talked about 'disruptive supercomputing'.

Facebook hardware manager Amir Michael related the genesis and rationale of the firm's Opencompute project.

The Khronos Group approved an update to OpenCL for GPU computing development tools.

And lastly, V3 reporter Shaun Nichols analyses the challenges and opportunities in supercomputing that came up at the SC11 conference this year. µ
