Apple will release IOS 5.0.2

Fixes battery issues, apparently
Thu Nov 17 2011, 14:51

FRUIT THEMED GADGET FLOGGER Apple will release yet another update to IOS 5 after IOS 5.0.1 failed to solve problems with battery life.

According to German web site Macerkopf, Apple has a clear target for Iphone 4S battery life, which it says needs to be up to two days, consisting of 10 hours of heavy usage and 40 hours in standby mode.

Sources in Germany told the web site that IOS 5.0.2 should be out by the end of next week and the next major upgrade will become available by the end of the year.

IOS 5.1 is apparently also in the works and will bring additions to Apple's Siri voice control. Its new features will include the ability to turn on and off WiFi and Bluetooth, take photos and shoot videos.

Of course, we have to take all of these claims with a pinch of salt, as Apple hasn't even confirmed that there are issues with IOS 5.0.1. Of course, these German sources could be just about anyone, and The INQUIRER's grandad is always tipping us off about Apple products, so it's easy to get confused.

Battery issues showed up shortly after Apple released its IOS 5 mobile operating system upgrade and started to make Apple's handsets look bad. However, the IOS 5.0.1 update, which Apple said would resolve battery issues, appears to have made the problem worse, with users taking to Apple's forums and fanboi web sites' forums to complain.

The INQUIRER updated to IOS 5 over the air on our Iphone 4S last night, and after a full overnight charge, our battery had drained to 70 per cent by the time we got into the office.

This battery life issue could run and run, so if Apple is wise, it will make sure IOS 5.0.2 fixes it once and for all. µ

"40 hours is more Apples history" What?

40 hours is a) worse than what it is currently (200 vs 40) big mistake and b) Apple hate low battery life. Somethings not right here. Yes they are working on iOS 5.0.2 but it will be done properly and closer to the claimed battery life.

To be 2G and not to be 3G that is the question.

This is how it works.

a) Those who never admitted to having the problem in the first place will proclaim how much better it is.
b) Those still with the problem will be drowned out by comments from a).

Buy your own mast guys?

Why?

So why will I install that new update if only have improvements on Siri and battery life if I have an iPod Touch 4g?
I don't have battery problems and Siri is only for iPhone4s... so... pointless for me?
