KOREAN SMARTPHONE VENDOR Samsung has confirmed that its Iphone rival the Galaxy S II will get an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).

The latest version of Android has been launched today, running on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Naturally the question on a lot of lips is, "When will existing phones get the new software?"

Sometimes the best place to get an answer like this it to hit Twitter, which is precisely what some users have done and a reply has appeared.

Samsung tweeted, "Hi, good news - the Galaxy S II will be receiving ICS, but there are no dates confirmed as yet. We will keep you posted."

It's short and sweet, but at least Samsung has confirmed that one of its most popular smartphones will get ICS, as we assumed it would. µ

Hi Paul,

We've not had word about the original S. Keep your eyes pealed for the news.

And the Galaxy S (1) ??

Any idea on whether they'll retrofit it with ICS?
