CANADIAN MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS FIRM Research in Motion (RIM) suffered a small period of downtime last night, and reported that some of its users were experiencing connection problems.

RIM is coming back from a four day long outage, not to mention some other less than favourable news about its business, but this situation appears to have been brief.

"We're getting reports that some users are experiencing delays. We're investigating and will update you ASAP," said the firm in response to messages about slow responses on its services such as Blackberry Messenger.

Three hours later it updated its message, adding, "Update: BlackBerry services are currently operating normally in EMEIA."

The firm was apparently reacting to a range of messages sent to it via its Twitter account. These had suggested that some groups of people were having problems with its services. µ
