MAKER OF EXPENSIVE GADGETS Apple is facing a fanboi revolt as hundreds have publicly complained of poor battery life in the Iphone 4S.
Apple's Iphone 4S has lots of features, starting with the ability to empty fanbois' wallets, but one that the firm did not mention is the ability for its magical device to drain its battery in double quick time. Indeed quite the opposite was mentioned at the launch, with the cappuccino company claiming impressive standby and talk times. However the fruit themed firm's faithful are now complaining that the Iphone 4S "is sucking battery like crazy".
Apple's forums are filled with frustrated Iphone 4S owners posting messages such as "Battery life is really rediculous! [sic] I can only but join all users here, cause I got the same problem." There are countless posts in similar vein, with fanbois claiming that the Iphone 4S is a drastic downgrade in terms of battery life. "Since I first receive [sic] the phone, I noticed the battery issues. Being that I came from the Iphone 4 which had amazing battery life, the Iphone 4s is just terrible," said one poster.
Apple hasn't yet acknowledged the problem, but users are relating many use-cases where the battery would show a drop of a few per cent within a few moments of operation. Users are positing everything from location-aware services such as geo-location to notifications as causing the problem. The truth is that no one knows for certain.
Given Apple's handling of antenna-gate last year, if the company does acknowledge the problem at best it likely will issue a software fix claiming that battery charge had been calculated wrongly in all previous versions of IOS. The only problem with that alibi is that Iphone 4 users who have upgraded to IOS 5 are claiming there are no such battery life problems, but that shouldn't stop Apple from using the excuse again to avoid a costly product recall. µ

Anyhow part of the SOLUTION is the essential BATTERYLIFEGUARD app

This may be the same "software fix" they used to keep more bars on the display for signal strength...except now the battery will "look fuller", too. Will still have 5 hr battery life, however, but at least you hopefully will have a "90% full battery" right up until the phone fades to black.
No problem, the batteries are *so* easy to replace... LOL.
I have no battery life problems but I did see a couple of the things people are pointing to as possible culprits. About a week after I got it the location services icon (the pointer near the battery percentage) was always on. Based on looking at settings it was trying to calibrate the compass. I disabled location services for that, and as far as I can the compass still works properly.
I also checked in the diagnostic logs for dumps from crashes people with battery life problems were seeing. I saw some of those dumps too, but more like every 10-15 minutes, not constantly like some people were reporting.
I suspect there will be some common thread found where people in a particular location are more suspectible to it (between towers, near a time zone border, or something strange) that a software update will fix. Of course the iPhone haters will claim they are whitewashing the problem and should recall every one for a problem only some people are having.
I'm happy with mine, the only thing I don't like about it is that my 3gs felt like it fit in my hand better with the rounded back. Maybe I'll get used to this, if not I can always sell it to someone and get the iPhone 5 next year :)
Who doesn't want a 5 hour battery life on their phone? Jealousy can be the only reason for criticisms of Apple products because they're all perfect.
It is quite a freebie so more congratulations to Apple.
With Aopple saying nothing those engineers may in fact be fairies doing some good work.
It's that time of the year.
and a sad bitter android user will be unable to resist posting about hardware they dont' have to make up for the sad fact they are poor and only able to afford ripoffs :(
I suspect that Apple will be able to address this with a software fix since there does not seem to be anything wrong with the hardware. I base that statement on the fact that battery life is one the improvements that I notice most about my 32GB iPhone 4S (compared to my old 3GS).
Lets hope for the sake of those that do have the problem that Apple figures it out and produces a fix soon.
