Google adds Apps to Google+

Steady rollout for its social network
Fri Oct 28 2011, 09:47

INTERNET SEARCH FIRM Google has started to roll out its Google+ social networking service to its Google Apps customers.

Google+ has seen a steady increase in users, now estimated to total around 50 million users. The roll out of Google+ to Google Apps application users should increase this further and attract some users that have so far resisted Google's open invitation to join its social network.

Enterprise customers with a large number of users can turn on the Google+ features now and their users will be asked to sign up before they can use them for social networking tasks like sharing information through its Circles feature.

In its blog post Google said that the rollout was "starting now" and we can confirm that not all Google Apps users have the feature already, having discovered that our own account, and those of others we have spoken with do not have the option yet.

Google+ will automatically become available to all users over the next several days, according to the firm.

"It took more technical work than we expected to bring Google+ to Google Apps," said Ronald Ho, Google+ project manager. "This integration is just the beginning. We'll continue to add features and improve the way that Google+ works with Google Apps." µ

Adding Apps?

Adding Apps to Google+ should mean something different from adding Google+ to Apps, should it not?
