NSA is feeding Wall Street with hacker information

Threat of attacks is taken seriously
Thu Oct 27 2011, 12:01

US MILITARY CYBER SPOOK SHOP, the National Security Agency (NSA) is feeding America's financial companies and Wall Street banksters with information about hacker attacks.

It is the second month of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations and although the US has not seen a significant attack on the New York Stock Exchange, the spectre of hacking assaults is being played up by US authorities. This, as well as the increasing risks of attacks and spying from foreign entities, is feeding US government paranoia.

According to Reuters, the NSA has stepped in to make the financiers feel better and is providing Wall Street investment banks with intelligence on "foreign hackers and assistance in fending off assaults".

Reuters has spoken with sources that have provided information about the assistance, which includes the FBI stepping to warn banks about threats and potential security vulnerabilities and discussions about worst case scenario hacker attacks.

NSA director Keith Alexander confirmed that the agency is talking to financial firms about plans for a pilot knowledge sharing scheme, but he didn't go into any other suggestions. µ

Where there is money,

There is power.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Look at the euro if you don't believe me.

However, those fools are so sloppy with their tactics. I used to side with them and then I realized, I'm not one of them. They are the enemy. The means do not justify the ends. The 4channers could learn from this. If they worked within the law, I bet they could do far more damage.

But i'm neutral now. Neither the NSA or RED FLAG have my allegiances right now.

Muhahahahahahaha ahahahah ahahah
*coughing*
ahem....

Paranoia?

"Paranoia: 1. A psychotic disorder characterized by delusions of persecution with or without grandeur, often strenuously defended with apparent logic and reason. 2. Extreme, irrational distrust of others."

If you have not been living under a rock for the last few years and have listened, watched, or read any news outlets including your own, you would realize that that beeing VERY VERY worried about large scale damaging attacks on networks does not fit the definition of paranoia.

Also you spent the entire second paragraph on the subject of the Occupy Wall Street protests and how they are driving the Government's thoughts and actions but then later in the article when you describe the Govenrment's actions they only cover foriegn threats. Last time I checked, Wall Street was in the United States and things that go on there are considered a domestic threat.

This is Surprising *Why*?

The surprise isn't that they are doing so - the surprise would be if they didn't. The IT boffins at Fort Meade take the security aspect of their mission seriously, which includes warning the owners of major public computer networks, such as those used by NYSE EuroNext and the NASD, about new and ongoing security threats. (In fact, there's a section of NSA's public site that contains similar information that is of use to the rest of us.)
