ONLINE FLICK FLOGGER Netflix has announced that it will launch its service in the UK and Ireland in early 2012.
The service will offer unlimited streaming of TV programmes and films on a monthly subscription. Netflix costs $7.99 across the Atlantic but the company won't quote subscription prices in sterling until nearer the launch.
Netflix said, "Upon launch, Netflix members from the UK and Ireland will be able to instantly watch a wide array of TV shows and films right on their TVs via a range of consumer electronics devices capable of streaming from Netflix, as well as on PCs, Macs and mobile tablets and phones."
The firm will also detail device support and content nearer putting the service live. We expect support to be similar to what it offers in the US, which includes games consoles such as the Xbox 360, internet connected TVs and Apple Igadgets.
Netflix has more than 25 million members throughout the US, Canada and Latin America. The service will rival UK film streaming competitors such as Android Movies, Itunes and Lovefilm. µ
