JAPANESE ELECTRONICS FIRM Sony has launched an entertainment network that will give its tablets, TVs, games consoles, smartphones and MP3 players access to music and films.
According to the Telegraph, a marketing campaign will begin on 1 November after the company's 'soft launch' of the Sony Entertainment Network.
The streaming service will offer 10 million tracks on Sony tablets and other Android based tablets and phones, while the UK service will have seven million tracks. There will also be a download to keep option, although the cost is not yet known.
Apparently, the aim is to target owners of MP3 players that use the gadgets to listen to CDs they already own.
Tim Schaaff, president of Sony Network Entertainment, pointed to the launch as marking "one of our many significant steps to satisfying the mobile demands of our current consumers while opening up our cloud-b music service to completely new audiences". µ
