SOFTWARE FLOGGER Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer has admitted he is relieved that he did not buy Yahoo for $44.6bn.

According to the Telegraph, when Ballmer was asked at the annual Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco whether he was glad that the company had not bought Yahoo for $44.6bn, he answered, "Hallelujah...You know times change...sometimes you're lucky."

He added, "Any chief executive who wanted to buy anything before the market collapsed in 2008 would be glad he didn't buy it."

Ballmer said that the market "really kind of fell apart" in 2008, when Microsoft made the unsolicited bid for Yahoo, adding, "And you know if you think about the timing of it, if Yahoo had accepted our bid... then we would have closed post Lehman Brothers."

Ballmer apparently would not answer questions as to whether Microsoft would bid for Yahoo again, as recent rumours have suggested, but praised the company's role as a partner.

His comments come as Yahoo today announced a lacklustre set of third quarter financial results, revealing a 26 per cent drop in profits. The company is currently looking for another permanent CEO.

Yahoo reported that Microsoft reimbursed Yahoo to the tune of $53m as part of its search agreement, a figure the firm claims covers all of its search operating costs. As more and more of the internet search business heads in Microsoft's direction, Yahoo expects to receive less money from Microsoft. µ

Duh

And it is also lucky to have products like the Micr0$uck$ LoseDoze Operating System (O/S) to leverage your corporate customers for office applications, it is is equally lucky that the USDOJ is willing to accept "donations" to look the other way in enforcing monopoly laws. I guess M$ is just plain lucky that almost every politician is corrupt enough to take their $$$ and ensure business as usual.

LUCK IS REALLY GOOD

THE EMT IS SO OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE COMPUTER BUSINESS THAT THEY ONLY HAVE LUCK TO RELY ON.
BUT THEN AGAIN THATS A WORLD SO JAMMED WITH SELFSERVING BACKSTABBING YESMEN THAT THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO FOCUS ON WHAT THE BUSINESS IS ACTUALLY DOING, SO YOU CANT REALLY BLAME HIM. EVEN IF BALLMER IS SELFSERVING BACKSTABBING YESMAN NUMBER ONE.
SO IT IS NO WONDER THAT ONLY NOW CAN HE GET AROUND TO DISCUSSING BUSINESS DECISIONS OF 2008.

"...sometimes you're lucky."

Pretty much an admission that he has no acumen with which to avoid even obviously stupid mistakes.

The WORLD, though, would be better off had it gone the other way, and M$ were now crippled.
