Asus whets appetites with a Transformer 2 teaser video

Gets an Ultrabook style design

TAIWANESE HARDWARE MAKER Asus has released a video showing a few sneak peeks at the Eee Pad Transformer 2 tablet.

Of course, the video doesn't give much away but it shows more than normal for a teaser video. Overall the design looks thinner and much more striking with an aluminium finish reminiscent of the firm's Ultrabook.

This will make a nice change compared to the plastic casing on the original Transformer. The design looks more curvy and rounded with a glossy finish around the screen and on the keyboard.

Like before, the tablet can be detached from the keyboard, making it a hybrid device. We've also noticed that Asus has given the rear facing camera the addition of an LED flash.

It's not clear what hardware or software lie beneath the shiny exterior. It could come with an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and double the storage at 32GB. Now that Google has announced it, this might be the first tablet to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but we don't know yet.

We are excited to find out what the Transformer 2 has to offer. The original was one of our favourite tablets of the year so we're hoping that Asus can deliver again with this follow-up. µ

looks pretty sweet

now if we can get that running windows 8 :-)

At least it looks nice, the current crop really only has the galaxy tab and ipad2. Side by side the tab has a nicer screen but the ipad2 has a much smoother and faster interface. And the ipad is pretty much guaranteed to get OS updates for at least 2 years.

So ... if I can get it with Windows 8 :-)
