KOREAN HARDWARE GIANT Samsung and online search leader Google will make a big announcement Wednesday in Hong Kong.
The announcement initially had been scheduled for 11 October in San Diego, three days before the Apple Iphone 4S launch. Samsung said the event was put off because it felt it was "just not the right time to announce a new product", just after Steve Jobs' passing.
The announcement will now take place at the S221 Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre Wednesday morning, 19 October at 10am. We think it's almost certain that the two companies will announce the Nexus Prime smartphone. Samsung has manufactured previous Nexus handsets for Google.
The only 'official' image of the phone we've seen was a sneak preview put out by Samsung showing a thin and curvy smartphone.
Google will be unveiling the next version of Android called Ice Cream Sandwich with the device. It will look like a cross between Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Android 3.X Honeycomb, according to the leaks we've seen.
Possible specifications include a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a curved 4.65in touchscreen with HD 720p resolution and 32GB of internal storage. We will bring you the full story on the announcement on Wednesday. µ
