Siri gets ported to the Iphone 4

Closes the gap
Mon Oct 17 2011, 10:44

IPHONE HACKER Steve Troughton-Smith has managed to port Siri from the Iphone 4S to the Iphone 4.

Siri is the Iphone 4S voice activated personal assistant and was an exclusive new feature of Apple's latest smartphone until now. The software has been successfully loaded onto an Iphone 4, according to Jailbreakstory.

The software is one of the things that differentiated the two handsets, considering that Iphone 4 owners could upgrade to IOS 5 before the Iphone 4S went on sale. Troughton-Smith also tweeted that the software should work on the Iphone 3GS and the Ipad 2.

Siri requires the internet and communication with Apple to work but the fruit themed company doesn't allow queries incoming from the Iphone 4. Troughton-Smith replied to a question about that by saying that the earlier device(s) could be 'spoofed' to get around it.

The video below shows the software running rather smoothly on the now out of date Iphone 4. We believe that the device must be jailbroken to allow Siri to be ported.

We've had a go with Siri ourselves on an Iphone 4S, but found that it lacks location based services in the UK. µ

For sure they are out of ideas like all the other manufactures out there! What's next quad core (is it even needed?) 5 inch screen (too big to hold?) 128 GBs of memory (do you need a phone with that much capacity or want to pay for it?) built in projector/3d ( does anyone really care?). What else can they do?

Look at the Motorola Spyder, is it special?

What I want to see in a phone is a single piece of glass that is clear until you turn it on then a 3d hologram appears on the surface which blows up to 12" x 12" square which allows me to do anything I want. Has more power then 10 x i7 chips and 10 Tbs of storage. 10000 hours of battery life. Whoever comes up with that will have my cash

Have apple finally run out of ideas?

With apple restricting siri to the 4s even though it will work on the 3gs and 4 arent they just clutching at straws for new features on the 4s? Maybe the reason for a delayed release date for the 4s was because apple had infact run out of ideas? We were told by the usual sites that the 4s would have amazing this and amazing that (rubbish rumours once again) in the end it was a huge letdown. Then the same sites started saying there will be an iphone 5 in early 2012. Has it ever occured to the fanboys that apple have actually ran out of new ideas? Steve Jobs was the heart of the company and as far as im concerned when he retired and eventually passed away they lost their biggest asset.
