THE FAULT at internet communications provider Research in Motio (RIM) is still affecting its Blackberry mail, instant messaging and internet services.
Earlier we reported that the problem, which seems to involve a fault at a datacentre in Slough, had been fixed. However, one reader commented that they were still not working in South Africa. T-Mobile in the UK has confirmed that it is still experiencing problems and is looking to RIM for answers, and Kenyan ISP Safaricom has already spoken to RIM about the issue.
"We are waiting on updates for RIM before we can update our service status page. Please continue to monitor. Thanks," said T-Mobile n a tweeted response to a question from The INQUIRER. Later the firm said in a tweet to all of its followers that a fix should be on its way.
"We're sorry some #BlackBerry users are still experiencing problems. BlackBerry are looking into it urgently and hope to resolve it soon," it said at 3.30pm today.
RIM'S UK PR team was unable to provide an official response when we asked for one, but did confirm that it was aware that users were complaining about problems with the service. It promised to update us with more information when it becomes available.
Update
Since publication RIM has coughed an official comment that confirms that some users are still experiencing problems. We had this worked out already, but it is nice to get the official word.
"Some users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, India, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina are experiencing messaging and browsing delays," it said in its statement. "We are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused." µ
