MOBILE OPERATOR O2 has released Iphone 4S pre-order prices that significantly undercut its rivals' tariffs.

Last week we did a roundup of the Iphone 4S pricing ahead of its launch this Friday. O2 wasn't included but has now come out with prices that are cheaper than the rest.

We focused on how much you would have to pay per month to get the handset without paying an upfront cost for it. The cheapest was Three at £43 per month on a two year contact. O2 is now offering the Iphone 4S for £41 per month on the same contract length with more minutes and texts.

Furthermore, if you're already an O2 customer you can get the 16GB model for free on a £36 monthly tariff on a two year contract. This is a lot less than the other operators. One thing to note is that these O2 prices do not include any mobile internet usage, which starts at £3 per month for 100MB.

If you don't mind paying a fee for the handset to get a lower monthly rate then O2 is also the cheapest for this option. The lowest price from its rivals is £20 per month with Orange but O2 is prepared to go down to £15.50 monthly if you pay at least £299 for the phone. This deal will get you 500 texts and 100 minutes.

O2 was the first operator to sell the Apple Iphone and will also be making the Iphone 4S available on a pay and go basis, but hasn't released any information on when this will happen.

If you're not sure whether to upgrade to the Iphone 4S, take a look at our head to head comparison between it and the Iphone 4. µ
