SOFTWARE VENDOR Oracle has updated the JavaFX platform and has provided details about upcoming versions of Java 8 and Java EE.shOracle's chief Java architect Mark Reinhold said the recently released Java 7 introduced a number of key features that Oracle hopes to expand with the upcoming Java 8 release.

Speaking at the Javaone conference in San Francisco, he promised that Java 8 will be a "revolutionary" update to the "evolutionary" release of Java 7.

Reinhold highlighted features such as the for/join framework, which allows Java code to be broken down for parallel processing and forms the early stages of a larger multi-threaded approach in Java 8.

He pointed out improvements in the development process, such as Project Coin that reduces the need to copy code when writing Java programs.

Oracle unveiled JavaFX 2.0 for Windows systems, along with the developer preview for Mac OS machines and additional tools for browser-based applications developers such as FXML, which allows web developers to use markup language when creating code. µ

a trojan horse?

Curious if anyone will want to trust Oracle following Android debacle. Why would anyone want to commit time and money only to risk the wrath of Ellison's is beyond me.
At least security holes and sub-par performance are free of charge and guaranteed.
