FINNISH PHONE MAKER Nokia will reveal its first Windows Phone handset by the end of the year.
This was Nokia's initial plan for the handset but it pushed the launch back to the first quarter of 2012. Now we are back at square one and might see the company unveil the phone in the next couple of months, according to Reuters.
As far as we know, the phone is called the Sea Ray and is pretty much a Windows Phone version of the N9 that runs Meego. Nokia is still not launching the N9 in the UK despite the handset seeing a great reception when Nokia announced it.
Instead Nokia has launched uninspiring Symbian handsets such as the 700 to fill the gap.
Nokia is still behind the change to Microsoft's mobile operating system, with Nokia's CEO, Stephen Elop saying, "Our belief is that there is a clear opportunity for an alternative ecosystem"
It's possible that Nokia is bringing the announcement forward because of a number of rival handsets that rival vendors have announced. Some of these handsets are already on sale, such as HTC's Titan.
Apart from new phones, Microsoft has said that the update to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is now available to 50 per cent of exisiting users. When Nokia's Windows Phone does turn up it might have a fight on its hands to get noticed among all the other Windows Phone 7.5 phones. µ
