FORTY-FOUR THOUSAND French internet users are on their second strike and could soon be kicked off the internet.
According to Torrentfreak, the French Hadopi laws have kept authorities very busy in their policing of the internet, and have seen them send out 650,000 first strike warnings, 44,000 second strike notifications and 60 third strikes. These 60 people are now very close to being banned from the internet, thanks to the controversial French law.
The rules, which the UK government seems to rather like, offer a gradual response to dealing with alleged copyright infringement and warn internet users when a monitoring firm claims that they have fileshared copyrighted material.
Hadopi, which is the French authority in charge of policing and warning internet users, says that things are going well.
The 60 users on their third warning are said to have ignored the two that came before. According to Torrentfreak, punishments could include a €1,500 fine and a month's ban from the internet. µ
