ONLINE RETAILER Clove has announced that Sony Ericsson's Xperia Pro smartphone will tip up on 6 October.

Sony Ericsson announced the Xperia Pro earlier this year and it is nearly upon us with a price tag of £322. The phone looks like the Xperia Play but has a Qwerty keyboard instead of gaming controls on the slide-out section.

Clove said, "We have been informed today that we will be receiving stock of the Xperia Pro on the 6th October. This will please a lot of you I am sure as we have had many enquiries about the ETA of this device."

The Xperia Pro will add to the already large Xperia family of smartphones, which also includes the Xperia Play, Xperia Arc and Xperia Ray just to mention three. It will come pre-loaded with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Additionally it has a 3.7in touchscreen with 480x854 resolution, an 8.1MP camera with an Exmor R sensor, plus microUSB and HDMI ports.

Rival mobile retailers such as Play and Amazon don't have product pages for the Xperia Pro yet. Online retailer Expansys has the smartphone on its web site but with no price or date. µ
