Motorola revives its Razr handset

Back from the grave

US PHONE MAKER Motorola could be resurrecting its iconic Razr brand name with a yet to be announced Droid Razr smartphone.

Images have immerged of the Motorola Droid Razr with a 4.3in qHD Super AMOLED screen. The phone is codenamed the Spyder but Thisismynext confirms that the phone's 'about screen' calls it the Droid Razr.

If this is true then the company will be reusing its well regarded brand from the past, after which mobile phone industry observers thought that it lost its way somewhat. To make things more complicated the handset looks quite similar to the Droid HD that we wrote about last month.

It's possible that Motorola has just changed the name of the phone in order to bring back the Razr brand, or maybe the different names are intended for different markets. We've been unable to contact Motorola for clarification as yet.

When or if the phone tips up it should have a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a Gorilla Glass screen, an 8MP camera and a case made from Kevlar. The Razr will also work with Motorola's upcoming Lapdock 100, which we wrote about earlier today. µ
