US MOBILE OPERATOR Verizon has sided with Samsung in one of its many legal disputes against Apple.
Verizon, which is the largest wireless operator in the US and is part owned by Vodafone, has come out in support of Samsung against Apple's request for a sales injunction on the Infuse 4G, Galaxy S 4G, Droid Charge and Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices. According to Verizon, any injunction would "run counter to the public interest".
Apple's request for injunctions against the sales of those Samsung devices are based on claims that they infringe four of its patents. Verizon is only throwing its weight behind Samsung on one of the patents that relates to scrolling, scaling and rotation on a touchscreen display.
Verizon has taken the angle that Apple's patent infringement claims are against devices that support Long Term Evolution (LTE) and, should any ban be imposed, the deployment of LTE networks will take a hit. The firm claims that "the proposed injunction would disproportionally affect the very devices that are most critical to adoption and expansion of Verizon Wireless's next generation network".
Given that Verizon only just this year got its hands on a CDMA Iphone, it's surprising to see the firm speak out against Apple. While Verizon is likely to win favour with Samsung for its public show of support, one wonders whether Apple will launch GSM and CDMA versions of its Iphone 5 at the same time next month. µ

"And Asia will increase domination by factor of 2 every decade until their GDP per capita will be the same as in US and Europe (which is 2-3 decades away). "
2-3 decades away? You have to be joking. 5-10 years max.
Anyway USA is about to join a (as USA call it) Third World Country Club. Finally.
Sorry for typo
"GDP per capita will be the same in 5 years already"
must be
"PPP GDP per capita will be the same in 5 years already"
Unfortunately sh!t is coming faster then you think.
Before Apple there was Asian gray brick and soap box boring cellphone desert and after Apple will be the same desert.
Who will be hip gadget producer ? Motorola ? LOL
The whole US electronic industry is basically dead in 10-15 years as soon as Asian GDP surpass US one - game is over. GDP per capita will be the same in 5 years already. That's the basic principle of the trend as i see it. All money markets and hi-tech will shift to the dominant economic world power. And Asia will increase domination by factor of 2 every decade until their GDP per capita will be the same as in US and Europe (which is 2-3 decades away).
Do the math yourself, do not believe anyone, even me. Conclusion though is literally obvious.
"and cheer Apple with its fight against the world copycatery"
Apple itself is a patent troll, much like Rambus, who often steals ideas, just to sue for them later. Just watch Jobs interview where he openly says he is "shameless about stealing great ideas". His motto: "Good artists copy great artists steal."
Check out movie "Pirates of silicon valley", it gives pretty interesting insights in a humorous way.
"money will help the American electronic industry which is on life support now."
No it wont. Apple is ultra rich already, and less competition wont help customers, and not much help for US electronic industry either, just Apple.
Verizon isn't picking sides here, they don't want any limits placed on their ability to sell whatever phones are on the market. If the situation was reversed they'd side with Apple, if it was Samsung versus HTC they'd side with whichever one was trying to make sure all markets had access to their phone, etc.
Do not be THAT clueless repeating the same absurd, it is really ridiculous. 80% of money go back to Apple, 20% to parts and assembly abroad. That's the world manufacturing trend.
The only problem with Apple is that it like almost all other companies hides from tax some money earned abroad. But Apple is lobbying Obama do not delay tax holiday to return them back. Push your gov for that or change the tax law!
Slava: "Apple is the last American producer of somewhat noticeable sh!t." Since when is Foxconn an American Company? Are you joking or are you clueless?
Even if u hate apple products (like me) and never have one (like me) or plan to buy in future (like me) you must support decency in competition and cheer Apple with its fight against the world copycatery, not just Samsung.
Do not be cheap, people. Take back and suppress your hate for 3 times overpriced plastic - it's not for you, there exist a lot of iDiots in the world, their money will help the American electronic industry which is on life support now. Apple is the last American producer of somewhat noticeable sh!t. Support Apple.
