LG Optimus 3D gets double battery life

If you sacrifice thickness
Fri Sep 23 2011, 14:59

BATTERY MAKER Mugen Power has made a double strength battery for LG's Optimus 3D smartphone.

The HLI-P920XL battery has been tailored for the Optimus 3D and boasts a rating of 3200mAh. This is actually more than double the standard 1500mAh battery than LG provides and delivers a 113 per cent increase in power capacity.

This will be particularly good news for Optimus 3D owners or prospective buyers, as poor battery life is by far the worst thing about the handset. This caused us to lower its score when we reviewed the 3D capable smartphone in July.

The high capacity battery should mean that users will easily get a day or more of use out of the phone, something that we were unable to achieve.

The down side is that the battery makes the phone 19.15mm thick because the battery is quite fat. Mugen Power provides a 'battery door' case with the battery.

Mugen Power says its batteries have "better performance (higher capacity) and reliability (longevity & safety) than other brands". It claims, "All Mugen Power batteries also undergo vigorous QA procedure, resulting in Mugen Power achieving the lowest return rate in the industry. All Mugen Power batteries are CE approved."

The battery costs $98 and though this might seem quite high it's probably worth the money. µ

Battery Options

I have an LG Optimus 3D. The battery life when the phone is on standby is one of the best I've owned recently and that list includes Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation and several others. I bought a USB connectable "power bank" that stores 2500mah. I also have a smaller "Manhattan Power Bank" at 1500mah. With these very compact options in my pocket I can keep my phone charged....and any other USB-powered device I might have with me. This flexibility is a powerful add-on to one's personal tech....and cheaper than the Mugen battery which can only be used with the phone.

Good stuff

I have a Mugen battery in my T-Mobile G2. Mine isn't even the huge one with the extended door, it's just the 1800mAh version which fits in the standard compartment. Even with that unit, I get impressive battery life. My record so far is 52 hours runtime, with 9% remaining.

Great brand

Absolutely love Mugen Power guys and it's great to see articles about them here. Since I've bought a battery for my Nexus S they replaced it because the first on did not work, but the new one rocks...A bit overpriced but with such great customer support I think it's worth every penny.

Worth it?

Visit batteryboss.org and get some low
down on Mugen batteries.
Seems they exaggerate more than a little!

A bit below your normal journalistic capacity guys.
