Nokia Windows Phone roadshow is coming
Thu Sep 22 2011, 17:04

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Microsoft and Finnish phone maker Nokia are showing off an app converter tool that converts from Symbian to Windows Phone.

The move to try to make it easier for Nokia Symbian developers to learn Windows Phone was announced on Microsoft's blog, which said, "So, folks from Microsoft and Nokia worked together to build a great package to help you get started."

As part of the push, the companies have introduced a "Windows Phone Guide for Symbian Qt Application Developers" white paper and have added Symbian Qt to the Windows Phone API mapping tool.

Meanwhile, a series of developer events called the "Nokia Windows Phone Training" roadshow will start today in Paris.

The roadshow is then moving on to Italy, Spain and Germany. It will be in London in the UK on 10 October and a date for Silicon Valley in the US will be added "soon". µ

Windows to Symbian

Nokia as got alot of work to do to make the switch from Symbian to Windows,Symbian is easy to Customize the way you want your phone to look with Themes an Wallpapers,an Transfering data between Pcs an Phones so easy an Simple but with Windows you are Limited,no Micro Sd card slot an Usb ports on Windows,so loads like me will not be liking the switch to Windows,so Nokia as got to make Microsoft make windows phones alot more easier an not so limited

Also launched by Nokia

is a tool that "converts" API calls from iOS and Android to Qt.

The title and tone of this article is a little misleading - all the new Microsoft tool does is convert API calls, one at a time, manually. It doesn't convert applications.

And naturally Nokia can now do the same from iOS and Android to Qt.
