CLIMATE OBSESSED but presumably light on labour rights focus, Al Gore has let slip the release date for the Iphone 5, only he mentioned phones, plural.
Gore, who has been on the Apple board for eight years and has presumably heard at least one mention of the company Foxconn, said yesterday in South Africa that the Apple phones will be released in October.
Apple has an event, just rumoured for now, set for October 4, so perhaps this combines with Gore's slip to make fact? By now we are calling it 'more than likely'. Apple likes to be a closed shop when it comes to upcoming products, but gosh darn it, don't we hear a helluva lot about the blighters before the official release.
This year the firm looked to have been continuing a more recent, and more advanced, tactic of releasing handsets into the public before launch. But whatever. Talk from Gore, who has a seat on the board, cannot be taken lightly. If he doesn't know what's happening at the firm then who does?
Perhaps not used to keeping secrets - he must be fun at Christmas - Gore was talking about the exciting world of big investments when he said, "Not to mention the new Iphones coming out next month. That was a plug," according to a report on the International Business Times.
He probably winked then, too, and nudged someone, but we have been unable to confirm whether that was the case. The "Iphones" part is interesting as its hints at a number of releases from Apple, but Gore could have been talking about units or model variants as opposed to multiple new handsets from the fruit themed firm. µ

Well he should know these things. He's none other than THE inventor of the internet. He also single-handedly defeated ManBearPig. What other qualifications could you possibly ask for!?
