THE OCCUPATION of Wall Street has reached its third day and so far eight arrests have been made.

The protest is supported by the hacktivist group Anonymous and sees individuals camping out in the New York financial district, and by all accounts it has been a peaceful affair.

Just eight arrests have been made during the occupation, according to a report linked to by the hacker group, while the sit in has won the attention of at least one rapper musician.

Lupe Fiasco was asked to bring a sound system to the event by the hacker group, and has delivered. His attendance, as well as that of others was welcomed by the group.

"Rappers artists poets writers thinkers musicians indy labels or not let's make it happen at liberty plaza. Pop off! #occupywallstreet," wrote Anonymousabu on his Twitter account.

"The police ask 2 speak 2 the leader. We told them there is no leader They didnt understand #TakeWallStreet #OccupyWallStreet" HA!," added Fiasco later.

The rapper has also made a song for the protests, which is reproduced on his blog. "Hey Moneyman Moneyman the mayor's on the phone. He says he wants to know if all those people went home. Those momma's and poppa's and students and cooks. Those teachers and preachers, one second I'll look...," it says.

"Hey Moneyman poor Moneyman you should slip out the back. Cuz the forces of greed are under attack. No bombs or bullets or rocks or guns. Just hashtag's and voices at the tops of their lungs!"

Although the campers were prevented by the police from camping on Wall Street itself, they are camped in a nearby park. Atleast two of the arrested were picked up by the police for wearing masks, in this case the Guy Fawkes model, which is illegal for groups of two or more. µ

Yes, but...

@James:

...you have to be willing to use the arms that you bare against those who oppress you. Stay tuned; it shouldn't be too long now.

Land of the free indeed

How many times have I heard that having the right to bear arms is a way to keep the US people "free" from a meddling government. That they they are kept in check by the fact that they have to be wary of an armed populace.

Fat lot of good that did you, at least I can wear a mask in my country.
