On Android and IOS

PEOPLE DATABASE Facebook's Messenger app is now available in the UK for Android and IOS devices.

The app, which is aiming to rival the Research in Motion (RIM) Blackberry Messenger (BBM) service, allows mobile users to chat to Facebook friends over an instant messaging (IM) style chat. It syncs with Facebook contact lists and adds names automatically rather than the user having to add them individually.

Meanwhile, offline contacts can still be sent messages, and group chats are still possible.

Facebook Messenger works across devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones and is available at Apple's App Store and at Google's Android Market for free. µ
