Facebook update to improve Twitter connections

Feature could launch this week
Mon Sep 19 2011, 13:18

AN UPDATE to social network Facebook will allow users to pipe their profile updates directly to a connected Twitter account.

According to the BBC, Facebook said it is working on the feature in a document sent to developers about upcoming changes. Although the feature is listed as "coming soon", Facebook has not confirmed a specific date.

However, a likely contender for the launch would be Facebook's F8 developers conference, which starts on 22 September.

Previously, users could only link to Twitter from Facebook pages meant for bands, public figures and businesses.

This change comes as Facebook launched a subscription system that allows users to "subscribe" to updates much like Twitter's Follower feature.

However, it has raised some questions regarding privacy, as Facebook members will be able to see the public activities of most of the privacy shredding Facebook web site's 600 million users. µ
