COMMUNICATIONS SOFTWARE OUTFIT Skype has updated its client for Apple Mac computers, bringing it in line with the latest Windows release and addng Facebook integration.

In release notes the firm remarked that it was releasing updates for Skype on Macs quicker than ever before and reminded us that this year it has added exciting things like a new interface and HD video calling.

The firm has not rested there and today, weeks after it added the same functionality for PC users, it has released the Skype 5.4 for Mac Beta. The update brings out the same features found in the Skype 5.5 release for Windows, explained the firm, adding that this includes the ability to message and call your Facebook friends from Skype.

"To connect to Facebook, simply sign into Skype, click on the Connect to Facebook tab and enter your Facebook sign in details," it explained, in case you were wondering how to do that.

Facebook is not the only annoying thing to come with the latest Mac release. Skype has also added an advertising system to its client software. Paying users will not see adverts but casual users will. µ
