HARDWARE SECURITY FIRM Kensington has launched two products to reduce the chances of theft or loss of an Iphone or Ipad.
While many would argue that a lost Iphone is a good thing, Kensington's Bungeeair alerts users when their Apple device is left behind or taken. Meanwhile Secureback allows the Ipad to be physically locked to a stationary device if it's left behind or in use.
The Bungeeair Power Wireless Security Tether uses a wireless connection between the Iphone 4 and a keyfob with an alarm to alert the owner if the device is left either 15 or 23 metres from the keyfob.
The Secureback looks like a normal phone case, although is slightly heavier at 90g, and extends the battery life of the device. The Iphone battery and the Kensington battery can be charged at the same time using a micro-USB connection.
The Bungeeair costs £99.99 while the Secureback case for the Ipad 2 costs £44.99. The latter allows the use of a Click-Safe or standard lock, as used on laptops, to secure the tablet to a desk.
The devices are available from today at Kensington.com and other major retailers. µ

"While many would argue that a lost Iphone is a good thing"...
Nobody - even Apple haters - would argue that someone losing their phone is a good thing. Pull yourself together and try to concentrate on actual journalism, rather than aping the "everyone who buys an iPhone is an idiot" meme that The Inq seems to require these days.
So lets you back the car off the drive and then have to turn round!
Plus I think if you leave your phone 15 meters away in public, it's gonna be gone before you get back. At 5 meters you might have a chance.
