MOBILE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Google hasn't launched Ice Cream Sandwich yet but already we're hearing about Jelly Bean, the next installment.
We're getting close to the next version of the Android operating system (OS), which is called Ice Cream Sandwich, and the next version could be called Jelly Bean, according to Recombu.
The Android software release sequence is in alphabetical order, with the previous two versions having been codenamed Gingerbread and Honeycomb. If you hadn't realised, they are all named after sweet treats. We don't have any information on Jelly Bean, at least not from Google. One rumour is that major parts of Ice Cream Sandwich are being pushed back to Jelly Bean, but we doubt that is the case.
Ice Cream Sandwich is due to appear in the next month or two and will quite possibly make its debut on the firm's upcoming Nexus Prime smartphone. It is unclear what the version number will be, but 2.4 or 4.0 are the most likely. It's anyone's guess as to what the version number of Jelly Bean will be.
Ice Cream Sandwich will of course bring new things to the Android operating system such as an updated look and features that appear in Android 3.0 Honeycomb. This next version is supposed to amalgamate Gingerbread for smartphones and Honeycomb for tablets to create an OS that will work on both devices.
Google said Ice Cream Sandwich will "deliver one operating system that works everywhere, regardless of device." µ
With over 5 lac android devices getting manufactured every month, i am not sure about the future of iphone.
iphone5 may not have some features which the current android phons from htc/samsung have. waiting for iphone5 is absolutely stupid.
with Steve Jobs retiring from Apple, wonder if IOS can compete with android.
I was all for Android when it first came out, but two years into using Android I'm frustrated and disappointed. I started with1.6 and now I'm at 2.2 and the story is the same. Clunky, ugly, and unstable. I am in no way a Mac Fan, but I'm really thinking iPhone 5 over Android 2.3 or 2.4. I'll sacrifice 4G for a more polished and stable product. Damn you Google for making me get an iPhone!
