Google's Nexus Prime is on its way

ONLINE SEARCH GIANT Google's upcoming Nexus Prime smartphone could be with us in the next two months and will be made by Samsung.

A product page for the Nexus Prime, also known as the GT-I9250, has appeared on Samsung's web site. There is no other information but this confirms that the Korean smartphone maker will follow on from building Google's Nexus One and Nexus S handsets.

Yesterday we learned that Google plans to bring out Android Ice Cream Sandwich next month or in November, according to executive chairman Eric Schmidt.

"We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reasons, which is being release in October/November, which everybody's very excited about," Schmidt said.

If this is the case then we expect the new version of its popular operating system to make its debut on the Nexus Prime. Other smartphones will get an update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich after the Nexus Prime launch.

It is still unknown what version number Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be given. The main two possibilities are Android 2.4 following on from Android 2.3 Gingerbread or Android 4.0 following on from Android 3.0 Honeycomb. µ
