SOYLENT GREEN INGREDIENTS LISTINGS SERVICE Facebook has snaffled a book related domain name away from a French adult entertainment web site.
We learn today that there is, or was, a French top shelf web site called Sexebook.com, which apparently had done a good brown paper bag business for some years.
However, perhaps nodding to Facebook's wallet or bowing to its legal pressure, the French web site's owners have passed the sexebook.com domain name to the social network. We visited the web page, for research purposes of course, and found that it would not load.
According to a report at Fusible, which first noticed the change of ownership, the Whois information for the URL was updated this week and now shows that Facebook Inc is the holder of the sexebook.com domain name.
If the story sounds vaguely familiar that is because Facebook recently went after another top shelf title called Shagbook, which operates in the UK and has a less sophisticated name, but shares one feature with Sexe and Face, the fact that it is followed by the word 'book'.
Shagbook has countered claims that it is not allowed to use the word book to explain a people cataloguing service by saying that in fact the term has been around for decades. µ
