GADGET SELLER Apple is taking its case against Samsung to the Japanese courts as it continues its legal world tour.
The cappuccino company is already actively targeting Samsung in a number of countries with its complaints that Samsung's smartphones and tablet devices are knockoffs of its Iphone and Ipad designs. Having just had recent success in Germany, its lawyers are looking at pressing its case in Japan, and probably looking at real estate there too.
According to local news agency Kyodo via Reuters, this case is the same as the others, and Apple, which as far as we can tell has lost few sales to Samsung's competing devices, wants to see sales of the devices banned and a nice little 100 million yen in damages.
These cases have led to some embarrassment for Samsung, including having to remove a tablet device from display at the IFA show in Berlin about 24 hours after it had started showing it off there.
Samsung is arguing against the claims of copying, and in perhaps its most interesting argument, pointed out that the concept of the tablet, and its basic design and style, have been around for some forty years. µ

Apple has to do something with all the money they make, they wouldn't think of giving back any to the shareholders.
If thats the case then Harley Davidson should be able to ban the import of the lookalike motorcycles. They look closer to a Harley than the Galaxy does to the Iphone
Please vacate the premises. This site is not for you.
If you hold an iPhone in one hand a Galaxy S2 no one would ever think they're the same model phone. Any rational judge given them both to hold would just go "so they're both phones..... and that's the basis of your complaint?".
Google should help samsung like it did with HTC, use those motorola patents its time that Google and Android Partners
should pool all their patents together
and bring one massive class action suit against Apple.
Dont you mean Cupertino? the state in California and not a type of beverage?
Apple are trying to say that anything that looks like s smartphone or tablet is stealing their ideas. This is tantamount to saying that they INVENTED the WHEEL. My blackboard was a tablet. The ancients wrote on clay tablets with a stylus. My tablet now works with electicity. So what are they trying to claim?
