TAIWANESE PC MAKER Micro Star International (MSI) has announced its latest offering to the gaming market, the GTX780DX gaming notebook, which it said will tip up next month.

The GTX780DX is MSI's latest effort to tempt gamers and compete with rival firms like Alienware. The powerhouse notebook will feature a combination of Intel and Nvidia components.

MSI said, "The world-class manufacturer of notebooks is proud to introduce the GT780DX gaming notebook with a 17" Full HD non-glare LED display. It is simply the most advanced gaming notebook ever made."

Other than the large 17in screen with 1920x1080 resolution, the GTX780DX will have up to an Intel Core i7-2630QM processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX570M GPU with 1.5GB of GDDR5 RAM. Other key specifications include up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM and dual hard drives of up to 1.5TB featuring RAID 0.

MSI has collaborated with Steelseries to produce a specially designed gaming keyboard for this notebook. It can cope with 10 simultaneous commands, has enlarged Ctrl and Alt keys and the Windows key has been repositioned to avoid those infuriating moments when you unintentionally quit to your desktop.

Connectivity will come in abundance with VGA out, two USB 3.0 ports, three USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA port and an HDMI port. There will also be a 2MP webcam if you feel like taking a break from gaming to make a video call.

Cramming all this technology into one notebook does make it slightly larger, though. The GTX780DX will be 55mm thick and weigh 3.9kg. MSI said it will cost around £1,600. µ

Most advanced?

The quote "it is simply the most advanced gaming notebook ever made" is absolutely false. You can get notebooks from Alienware and Clevo (Sabre, Avadirect, etc) with more powerful CPU's (i7-2820, i7-2920) and GPU's (GTX580m, Radeon 6990m).
