Apple used San Francisco police in Iphone 5 recovery attempt

Private investigators get police muscle
Mon Sep 05 2011, 12:51

TEQUILA DRINKING, LOOSE GRIPPED Iphone developer Apple employed police officers as part of its missing Iphone 5 prototype recovery scheme, and might have used them to make its apartment entry appear legitimate.

According to a report on the SF Weekly web site, Apple's private investigators popped along to their local police station, and in what is presumably not common practice got four officers to accompany them to the house where they believed the lost Iphone 5 was lurking.

The SF Weekly has spoken to San Francisco Police Department spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield, who said that "three or four" SFPD officers joined the Apple security agents on a journey to the man's home. The newspaper reports that although the group was identified as police officers, and badges were shown, only the two Apple employees entered the house belonging to Sergio Calderón, 22.

"Apple came to us saying that they were looking for a lost item, and some plainclothes officers responded out to the house with them," Dangerfield said. "My understanding is that they stood outside. They just assisted Apple to the address."

Dangerfield added that the men searched Calderón's apartment as well as his computer and his car while presumably under the cover of their police minders, but found nothing.

Calderón, who probably needs a chain as well as a lock on his door, said that the search - which sounds bad enough to us - was worse than you might have thought, and explained that questions about his right to be in the country arose.

"One of the officers is like, 'Is everyone in this house an American citizen?'" Calderón told SF Weekly, "They said we were all going to get into trouble." He added, "When they came to my house, they said they were SFPD. I thought they were SFPD. That's why I let them in."

The newspaper adds that impersonating a police officer is a crime that carries a penalty of about a year in jail, but it is for lawyers and not us to say whether that's what the Apple security agents were doing. As for Dangerfield, he opted out of commenting too, and told the newspaper, "I'm not going to go there." µ

Even creepier....

I've heard rumours that ALL those young Chinese who 'committed suicide' whilst working at the factory making iPhones had an exact match for Steve's pancreas, hmmmm.

And we all saw that research a few months ago that showed that when iFanboys were shown a new Apple product it stimulated the same part of the brain as religious imagery. Well, what they didn't tell you was that's the exact part of the brain that lit up when they were shown gay porn.

I don't know what the world is coming to.

another creepy apple story

these apple guys are relentless.
Apple has been treating their users and the general public like dirt for ever. think about it they have a huge network of small computer dealers around the country selling thier wares, then they open their own stores and push their own dealers out of business. these are the guys who got them where they were. without these small stores apple would have never get huge. then they steal the ipod from an inventor, who eventually wins his huge lawsuit, they steal all their technology and then sue others, palm was the first real smart phone, internet connected device/ tablets were made for years, stolen.....they hurt hundreds of chineese workers, with harmfull chemicals, and wont even answer complaints.. they are just creeps, and jobs is a jerk, wont give a dime to charitys...now look at bill gates ...

Suprised? no

LOL, I'm not surprised in the least that it has been reported that Apple have pretended to be law enforcement to gain entry and illegally search someone's house. One minute they are using the law to stop their competitors, then the next minute it seams they are breaking the law again for their own goals. It seams nothing is beneath them.
