Cyanogenmod puts Android 2.3 on an HP Touchpad

Has plans for multiboot
Tue Aug 30 2011, 10:13

MOBILE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER Cyanogenmod has got its Android 2.3 Gingerbread version running on the HP Touchpad.

The video clearly shows an Android boot sequence on an HP Touchpad. The developer team has only been working on the project for a week so there isn't any working functionality but that is on its way.

The Cynanogenmod team said, "As you can see from this quick demo, we've been working hard and have made progress. Since this video was created last week, the build has been more 'tabletized' (tablet tweaks added, etc.), lvm support has been added."

At the moment the team is just working on Android, like it normally does, but has plans for the Touchpad to be 'multiboot' between Android and the Touchpad's native WebOS and maybe even other operating systems.

This is apparently "very possible" after talks with the WebOS development community and the aim is to make it easy for an end user to achieve. µ

In that case, what have they done that I couldn't?

I've written an Android emulator in Visual BASIC:

10 PRINT "Under Construction"
20 GOTO 10

Got your "Web 2.0" right there. Stay tuned for the HTML 5 version, once I finally actually find out what HTML 5 actually is, in fact.
