SOFTWARE MAKER Swype has announced a beta release of version 3.25 of its fast text input keyboard for smartphones and tablets.
The latest version of the on-screen keyboard brings new gestures, personal dictionary management and Swype Connect. Now you can gesture to cut, copy, paste and select all.
To use these functions quickly you just have to gesture from the Swype key in the corner to the appropriate key (X, C, V, A). There is now support for Twitter, so if you have highlighted text then a gesture from the Swype key to T followed by W will take the text to a new tweet in your Twitter application.
A similar thing can be done with Google Maps. With hightlighted text, a gesture from the Swype key to G followed by M will take the text to the Google Maps application.
The personal dictionary manager allows users to add or remove words using the settings menu.
The last new feature is Swype Connect, which verifies the licence without need for a separate installer. It also collects statistics so that the firm can make improvements to the accuracy of the keyboard.
Swype Beta said, "Swype Connect will bring increased license stability, improved accuracy, and opens the door for some amazing new features in the future." µ

Sounds like spyware to me. Why do we turn a deaf ear to this crap on our phones but darn near riot when it's on our PCs?

...when will they add the option to disable the voice-input 'key' that immediately tosses you into modal dialog hell when you brush it trying to hit space? My phone has a dedicated hardware button if I want to use that, anyway.
And some actual stability, rather than just "license stability," would be much appreciated on the Optimus V.
